Monday Listicles

Thanks to Stasha for hosting Monday Listicles.

This weeks topic is 10 things I give special thanks for.  I could be regular and give you family and friends as well as the regular accouterments but I am feeling a little strange today, so I am being a little off with the list.  Here are the top 10 things I am thankful for today,

10. Gravity - Otherwise we'd be floating away and never be grounded in our lives.

9. Kinetic Energy - Soccer would not have the same kick without you.

8. Amino Acids - You were the goo that came together in the building blocks of life. Especially you, phenylalanine, valine, threonine, tryptophan, isoleucine, methionine, leucine, lysine, and histidine.

7. Quarks - Beyond a giving us a funny word to say and a great character on Star Trek DS9 - you are also one of the key building blocks to all that matters.

6. Nitrogen - While Nitrogen makes up about 80 per cent of the air we breath, but despite this the body does not absorb nitrogen directly from the air. Nitrogen is not one of the most abundant elements. It is nevertheless important to life because of its role in the chemical structure of proteins and deoxyribonucleic acid, or DNA.

5. Water - About 60% of you is me so, I should be thankful for you.

4. Oxygen - It would be stuffy in here without you.

3. Hydrogen - Number 4 would not be possible without you

2. Carbon - Without you none of us would be here

1. Chocolate - Because all of this does not matter without you.

Monday Quiz About Me

Each week Heather hosts a quiz in order to get to know each other better.  She asks four questions then then asks each of us to pose a 5th question for different hopper to answer.  Sounds like fun.

1. If you could be on a reality tv show which one would you want to be a part of?

As a tourism professsor, the Amazing Race or something like that would be a lot of fun to do.  It would be interesting to see if my professional knowledge would help at all during it.

2. You have the power to create one law, what would it be?
In the USA, I would ban all political ads. They are not helpful.  They create a need to raise millions of dollars or worse have politicians feel like they owe some group who ran ads supporting them something.  There is little positive that comes from political ads and way too many potential negatives.  I would ban them.
Plus, if I see one more attack ad, I may just have to attack someone.

3. How's your weather today?

4. Other than the country you currently live in, where would you want to live?

Being a Canadian living in the USA, my obvious answer would be Canada.  That is however, probably cheating the question.  I would love to live on a South Pacific Island for awhile.  Fiji, Samoa, Tonga or Tahiti sound the most interesting but I am not fussy.

Now my question for you...

If I gave you $1,000,000 but you had less that 24 hrs to spend it or lose it: What would you do?

Six Word Saturday/ He Said She Said

I am combining Six Word Saturday with Heather and I's weekly He Said/ She Said this week.  So here goes,

Trust is the bedrock of relationships...

Heather and I got into a conversation this week about going to strip joints and having close friends of the opposite gender.  I did not necessarily see the link before the conversation but she listed it as a trust issue.  Either you trust your partner not to stray or not.  You can read more about Heather's thoughts on the subject here.

As for me, when I was much younger 18-22ish, I found strip joints to be sort of interesting.  Now, I see them as a waste of time and money.  I don't necessarily object to them, they are just not for me.  They honestly don't do a thing for me. If Heather wanted to go to one, I would not care.  Honestly, I do not see the difference between going to a strip joint and her reading on of her romance novels.  Some of them are pretty porn-y.

As for the friend question, I do not object to Heather having male friends that she hangs out with.  I have always believed that if people are going to cheat, they will.  It is a sign of something deeper wrong with the relationship.

In total, one has to learn to - and earn the trust of their - partner.  If one can not discuss issues and problems in the relationship it can manifest into deeper issues such as cheating.  I believe that whoever I have a relationship with is more sophisticated than to fall over with their legs open because they saw a stripper.  It is about developing trust over time and space in order to be able to discuss issues of sex and intimacy within the relationship.  When good communication about each other's needs and wants is consistent and solid, trust naturally occurs and the jealousy issues go away and no friends or trip to a strip joint is going to change that.

Four Fill In Friday

Thanks to Hilary at Feeling Beachie for hosting this great hop.

This week’s statements:

My day always starts by sadly checking my online world.  Email, Facebook & Blog.

I prefer high fibre to good scotch.  I have had such a Bull Durham craving lately...

I never thought I’d be happy until I met Heather...(She is reading this right? That has to score me points right?)

I wish I could be king of the world for ten years.  I would ensure everyone has access to health care, education and basic necessities. I believe that by ensuring people have access to these items, that have a chance to succeed.  Freedom would not be a buzzword to be used jokingly by the powers that be but rather a reality.  In other words, I would go back to the original founding fathers concept of Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Happiness and actually live the philosophy and get rid of the bastardization of it we have today.
