A Killer Pondering?

Photobucket
Once again thanks to Brenda for hosting Pondering.  This weeks' topic is,
Killing Time

There are so many distractions out there today.  It is tough to stay focused on the tasks at hand.  The ease in which we can be drawn into time sucks is mind boggling.  What most realize is the while time itself is a static concept - 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour - our perception of time changes.  While time sometimes seems to drag; it also can also fly by.

In my life, I have been lucky enough to have it fly by more that drag.  The problem is that while time in the universal sense is unlimited, our personal time on the planet is  not.  When we kill time - we work to shorten an already short existence.  That is not to mean we can not have time for relaxation or to turn off for awhile - these are necessary for the human condition.  What is not necessary however, is to become deviated by the 'non sequiturs' of life. These are those distractions that do not add to your existence in anyway but rather take away from a good existence.  These are the real time killers.  They drag you backwards on the path of life and keep you from moving forward.  We all get drawn in by the time killers on occasion but it is how much power they hold over you which makes the difference.   How much of your limited time on this ball of water and rock are you willing to kill?

Time killers are about regression and not progression.  Given how good my life is, I prefer to spend time trying to make it even better for me, my family and community rather than trying to drag it down.

P.S.  How can one talk about time and not add Pink Floyd's Time to the conversation especially these lyrics.

Tired of lying in the sunshine
Staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long
And there is time to kill today

And then the one day you find
Ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run
You missed the starting gun
